BFSFA : Committee notes (2) December 2009

Regular readers of our popular feature ‘Sportspy Reports’ may have enjoyed last week’s article that detailed the Cup heroics of Claremont Cons FC.  Claremont, struggling at the bottom of Division 2A came back from 1-0 down to overcome joint 2A leaders Great Eccleston FC 3-1.  Sadly, it now transpires that they were helped in this feat by the fielding of an ineligible player.  The player in question was in fact signed on for the now defunct GE Rushworth FC.

Claremont Cons FC compounded this cheating by,

a) Deliberately falsifying the team sheet,

b) Providing a false name to the referee when being cautioned and

c) Providing the league with the false name of a goal scorer.

Great Eccleston FC initially became suspicious as the player was being cautioned when he looked over at the manager, shrugged his shoulders and asked him what name to provide. The photographic evidence made this an open and shut case for Discipline Secretary Rogerson the Merciless as Claremont were thrown out of the Competition whilst Great Eccleston FC were quite rightly re-instated.

The BFSFA was here 40 years before you arrived and will hopefully be here 40 years after you’ve hung your boots up so whilst you’re a part of it respect the league, respect your opponents and play fair.
